996 Turbo advice

I'm thinking of buying a 2000 996 Turbo. As it's an early model I wondered if anyone out there had any experience or knowledge of any reliability issues? It's only got 30k miles on it and has full history. Also has a DMS chip upgrade, apparently putting out about 480bhp (and has had the X50 clutch kit fitted). I'm selling a 965 Turbo II to help pay for it, and will be advertising that here in next day or two.

I have a 2001 996 Turbo with 48k on it and it has been good as gold (touch wood!) I would go for it, the mechanics can easily handle 480 BHP without a problem. Just get it checked out well before buying it. Enjoy!

A serious contender for an OPC inspection and warranty at £900 all in.

OPC will not warranty it with a DMS ECU - well they probably wont notice on the inspection but will when you need to claim !

Its the risk you take,however i've never had any issues when its claim time........

I think that it's DMS who claim that their ECU reprog (AKA 'chip') is unusual in that OPC computers do not pick it up?

Thanks for the replies - I'd also read that the DMS chip was 'invisible' so to speak. The main thing is no-one seems to be aware of any major reliability issues. I'll check with Porsche Club as well. Thanks all.
