i saw an item from 5th gear some time ago regarding a system that auto opens garage doors(mine do already)but accidentally interupt mobile speed cameras! wondered if any one had any info on this system. can it be fitted to any car and any auto door,how much,who does it and of course if it is legal.

You have to have a garage door that uses infra red for the opener (I think!)
What is suposed to happen is the device fitted in the front of the car scatters an signal all over the place so that the reciver for the door picks it up, that is whats meant to stop the speed trap working, but I only think it's illegal if you don't actually have a garge!!
I don't know if it works, and can't say i'd like to try it!

There's the far better parking aid which is totally legal and uses it's own laser device. Think it's £200 plus £100 for each sensor, 1 at each end of the car. It's got my interest.

The Garage door openers work very well and, I am told, will indeed open your garage door.

These guys will be able to help you;

I presume each set of sender and receiver has its own 'key code'.

The thing is that the sender (on your car) will have to send out the key all the time, which allegedly interfere if anyone else wanted to bounce infra-red beams from the front of your car...

Gosh, that would be such a shame.

The sender emitter would soon burn out.
It’s instead triggered by a certain stimuli, such as the garage door (permanently emitting a low power signal - enough for a few meters range)….. or otherwise!!
Then the sender will go ballistic, transmitting the appropriate pattern at extremely high power for just a few seconds, enough to trigger the garage door….. or otherwise!!
It’ll probably come with an audible warning so that the driver knows the garage door is opening….. or otherwise!!

My advice: use such equipment only when you really need it – when you are sure a isn’t scammer around. Operators know that several successive E07s is a sure sign of a jammer in use; that’s their favourite form of driver obstruction!
