My sister has just gone self employed and is in the process of setting up a new publication.

So far she is unhappy with the designs her current people have come up with for her logo and although I havent seen them they do sound a bit pants!

Are there any designers that can produce a good logo for the magazine? Unfortunately her funds are tied up with the publishers who are doing a good job of the content / layout, they just can sort out a decent logo. (I said I would ask here)

The publication is called LONDON LOCKED and it is a bi monthly full colour ADULT directory. (It contains contact details, event previews etc ) the end user would mainly be men but it needs to attract advertisers also as it is it's main source of income.

She also wants a padlock incorporated in it.

I'm going to have a go also but i'm shite!! (will post my efforts)

Can anyone help?

Have the designers decided on a typeface for this publication? Here's my attempt (black background, could also be white or whatever).

Is there a deadline and what sort of magazine is it ? Is it ADULT in the sense of sexbars, strippers etc. . . or is it adult in bars, restaurants, places for a city lawyer to go to ? Is it possible to be mentioned in the masthead ?

That look's great! Maybe a bit too busy for my liking, i'll show her and see what he thinks.

It's an adult magazine in the sense that the adverts will manly be for massage parlour's home visit's, 0906 numbers etc.

It's bascially a directory with some event new's, previews, reviews etc.

The first publication is mid April!!!!!!

Sam, your logo does it for me, if you know what I mean. It is clean and simple - everything a logo should be. Works well with the white space so would make a great book cover. It is eye catching and slightly ambiguous, so it makes you curious. Top marks

taking your handcuff logo, i'd join the 2nd O in London rather than the first since the ends of the words don't line up 100%

Wow! Mine does it for you eh?lol thanks Emma.

Could someone tweak it to make it look more professional?

Maybe a bit more sexy? I think your right it does need to be simple.

Thanks for the feedback

Heh a porn mag that's tasteful? Thats gonna sell well then...

It does really need a designer to talk to your sister and elicit more information about the target market demographic and ethos. A mag aimed purely at men will have a different logo to one aimed at both sexes. i.e. Don't expect straight men to but a magazine with furry handcuffs on

It's an adult contact mag, It's not a jazz mag, it is bascially for company's and individuals to advertise in.

It's target market is mainly men although I think there will be a section for Gays , Bi, Bondage etc.

My sister is basically selling advertising space in this publication which the content eg (everything but the adverts) reviews, previews, editorial etc is all done by the publishing company.

She needs a logo for the mag and for the media packs she is sending to her customer base and isn't happy with the ones the publishing company have come up with for her.

I basically said I would try and help out....

looking better. shrink the woman so the top of her head lines up with the top of LONDON. And move her so the left of her left foot lines up the the left of D in LOCKED.
