Hi guys n gals, couple of more questions for you all - done 1000 miles in the Cerb now, loving every moment!!, car seems to fluctuate engine temp real fast, in static traffic goes from running temp to about 95 deg in only a couple of minutes then fans cut in, is this normal? also oil pressure fluctuates a little. Secondly, the engine seems to 'hunt' a little, (feels like a small misfire) when travelling at moderate speeds when you ease off the throttle is this cos' basically the car wants to go like stink or have I got a problem! nearly done(!), can anyone tell me where I can get the front twin light conversion as per the Tuscan, and what could I expect to pay, and lastly, where can I get a full car dust cover for the garage!! Think thats enough for one night! Cheers.

Temp seems normal to me, the oil pressure does move about a bit, assuming you have a V8 car then you should get 70 cold idle 50 hot idle and 70-80 hot under load. The uneven running may be down to throttle pot adjustment.

Who does your servicing? They will be able to check it out.

The engine temp will fluctuate in this weather as the ambient temp is so cold. As long as the temp does not drop <70 for a long period or >100 for a prolongued time the cooling system is working correctly.. Also the fans seem to be cutting in at the correct temp. This is normal behaviour IMHO.

The oil pressure does fluctuate depending on RPM and oil temp. as long as the pressure is stable at given engine speed and the pressure when driving does not drop below 40 or rise above 80 ish psi then this is normal IMHO.

This "hunting" is a characteristic of the AJP8 with the standard map. As long as you don't get a power hole in the rpm range when pulling away it's likely to be fueling. Especially at low revs which for 30 or 40 mph is just over idle in 3rd or 4th. Hence you feel the "hunting" more often... fox... go faster but at the cost of your licence.

I've heard good words about TVR Bodyshop (Bristol) and Austec Bodyshop(south of London, Outside M25)... as for others..? (I have not used either and am going by reputation/customer comments only).

All of my instrument panel readings fluctuate wildly, and i have been assued that i have a good, fine running example, so i would'nt worry. Cerbs fluctuate day by day, depending on how they feel, what the weather is like, if you have washed them recently....etc etc just watch out for that MIL light.

As for it labouring when slow, i have this too! They do not like to be driven slow, and unless you have one of these remap thingies it's one of those things you have to put up with. As long as it doesn't stall thats OK. Mine misfired a bit at one point, but was easlily sorted by replacing HT leads (i think) and some other such tomfoolerly under the bonnet - nothing expensive

A cerb should run really smoothly bar the 2k shudder that is pretty much the norm. A remap can sort that out.
If it isnt running well then get to a decent indie.
Oil pressure should be a pattern like:-
70 ish when cold. Similiar when under load when hot.
This time of yr I would expect hot idle to be less than 50ish?
In summer this might go lower eg 40ish.
Water temps - this time of yr it might get to 100 - 105 in traffic but when fan kicks in this will bring it down. Can rise quickly though.

DOnt bother with lights - keep the classic look. In the longer term this will protect the value of your car.
I would consider black wheels though - look great with a white car.
