Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the dashboards on a late and early chim, if at all there is a difference.
All the chims i have been in appear to have had the same dashboards...

BTW it is a lovely day here in the north east and have just been for a quick hoon at dinner time with the roof down...happy bunny now!!!

Early Chims (up to 95/96 IIRC) had plastic buttons rather than machined and had push buttons for lights etc. Later Chims have machined ally knobs and a turn switch for lights etc in a different place to those in the early chims.

Firstly, you lucky sod. I'm stuck in the office with the sun shining in and i was just wishing i'd brought the TVR out today.

With the dash boards, there is certaily a difference with the heater control, and all the cut-outs on the radio panel are different (except the radio hole!), and i also think there's a difference in the warning light locations. There is a similar thread on the Griffith forum about different dash finishes, suggesting that the clocks fitted to later cars were a different diameter to the earlier ones. Not sure if this is the same on the Chimaera though?

You mentioned a different finish last time i saw you, what do you fancy (the carbon look film on the Griffith forum looks nice).

They were different on the early Griffs - they had the same dials as used in the S...

Sorry if that info was wrong, i'd heard that they changed slightly when they went to silver bezzels. The Chimaerapages site has some good interior photos, some with non-standard dashboards. And there is a beautiful grey and cream interior on there too (mine!)

There are actually 3 different dashes, 94/95 dashes had larger clocks and therefore larger holes to accomadate the clocks, 96> had smaller clocks but both had the black buttons

and a recent poster was right the last lot had machined buttons and SS dashes i believe

I think you could could choose a metal dash with 'swirls' as an option from fairly early on. Then, on the late last few with metal dashes, you could have the standard veneer one if you wanted. Add to that some people take out the veneer and add the Leven stainless one and there really is no standard answer!!! That said, there was a difference in instrument size and layout as already covered.
