Hi.
I was wondering if you know whether or not those areas participating in the netting off scheme, who are enforcing speed limits with mobile units like the talivans,(phew) have to make sure the vans and persons operating them fall under the same rulings for gatsos?
In that they have to be clearly visible etc to be included in the scheme?
Replies gratefully accepted.

Im not exactly sure about that. I will find out for you
tomorrow if you are still around to read the answer. At a wild guess I would say they are not as they are not fixed sites.

Welcome back!

As I understand matters all of this visibility stuff for fixed Gatso's is merely guidelines for the positioning of Fixed gatsos, as such they can do what the hell they like with the Mobile units.

Indeed it could be argued that "effectively" they can do what they like with the Fixed cameras in hypothecation areas for the following reason: If they contravene the guidelines it's upto one of the government depts to decide if to let the council/partnership have the revenue from the cameras. On the "basis" (my belief but not everyones) these hypothecation partnerships are creations of the government to carry out the dirty work of "bashing the motorist" I can hardly see the government telling a partnership to get stuffed when asking to use money to further make driving stressful for motorists.

Deltaf, obviously what I say is my opinion, so wait and see what Madcop has to say on the matter which will be factual and will probably quote directly from the guidelines!
