Chaps does anyone know (Adam T?) whether a set of 17" Ruf CTR wheels will fit my 964 C2 - currently fitted with 993 Cup 2.
The off-sets quoted are

9inch 17.4 offset
8inch 30.4 offset

I rather not make an expensive mistake.

Many thanks in advance.

The normal offset for a 964 is around 55mm both front and rear, so these would stick out quite a long way.

Think I know why your asking - they do look good.

Bet they go for way more than the starting price.

You may want to have them weighed before you pays your money - the heaviness will affect acceleration, grip and steering.

Im really not too sure, the guys in the warehouse would be more than happy to check, if you fire off an email to:

info@ruf-automobile.de

I have never seen CTR wheels on a 964 though,

all the best

Thanks for the responses.

I have spoken to Brian at Jasmine who tells me that they would fit with the necessary spacers (21mm on the front and 31 or 43mm on the rear). So it is do-able.

My concern is the effect these large spacers whould have on the overall handeling of the car - as per Flemke's comment. It a lot of etra weight to carry around - so still unsure.

Adam, I have seen them fitted to a BTR, but have no idea whether these were CTR wheels with spacers or bespoke 964 wheels. I do know that for the 964 RCT Evo, Ruf used 18" alloys so perhaps that the way to go.

So many questions

Andy - shhhhh!!! although given there is a set of new 19" Rufs for £950 I was hoping to get these puppies for around £500 (living in hope!!)

Again many thanks

I don't think these will fit on a 964. See this link: www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=101 - spacers will DECREASE the offset, pushing the wheels even further out. The offsets you've quoted look like 3.2 Carrera and earlier 911s.

If offset is offset from the centre line, then the larger the offset, the more away from the cnetre it will be, ergo spacers are needed.

However, with spacers of the size you are talking about, you'll need longer wheel studs as well, don't forget to factor these into the costs.

I think Kevin might be right about the offset. I have just checked the Ruf website and they do sell 17" wheels for the 964 however there are identified as being for Turbo's and Turbo bodied cars, also you still need to fit 15mm spacers.

Next stop I think is an e-mail to Ruf, as per Adam recommendation.

Many thanks for your contributions.
