Thought about doing this myself but i cant help thinking about the consequences of a rear end shunt. Squished petrol tank and battery equals good chance of getting scorched.

True but there are lots of cars with batteries fitted in the boot.

Yep just a thought that it will all need to be considered, as we now turning over the good old V8 can be hard work for the poor battery.

my metro battery is in the boot opps so is the engine lol!!!

i cant see any power problems most rally cars do it but the spark/fuel tank is another thing just buy a fibreglass battery box then its so much safer

Provided the cable run to the starter is done via a treasonably direct route with nice thick cables is should not be a problem. The obvious catch is what do you do to when it goes flat. Also don’t forget to have some way of removing the hydrogen released during charging. The V8s battery was in the boot and worked fine. Think the 944 / 928 were at the back as is the BMW 530

Surely having it in the boot is better. Use the secret way in and very easy thereafter.

Moving the battery to the boot sounds great.

I think we should put together a guide...

Part 1,

Find a shorter passenger.

End

I would have thought that you could bolt the base directly to the boot floor (using rubber washers or grommets to seal it) and fibreglass (maybe with aluminium mesh strengthening) a bracket onto the bulkhead to bolt it there.
