How does the Gallardo drive?
Discussion
I just wondered what it's like to drive one of these. I remember having my opinions of greatness shattered when "that bloke" on top gear rubbished the Countach, and wondered if the Gallardo could be used by an average driver, for daily use. Still think the black one a saw the other day was prob the best looking car I've ever seen.
Cheers.

As with most things, it is a matter of opinion, but I think the G. is an exceptional drive. The controls are all well weighted - the clutch is cinch, the steering direct and feelsome and the throttle easy to modulate. But is still a real event to drive - it rewards a smooth, positive driving style and doesn't make it too easy!
Body control and damping on fast A and B roads is out of this world good - my GT3, as good as it is, simply cannot manage the same blend of dynamic handling and ride comfort.
I understand the 06 model is even better (sharper steering - the 05 car does have a bit too much understeer unless you can really get the power down (for which one needs an open bend!) - and lower gear ratios).

don't believe all the negative you hear about any supercar particularly lambos, that bloke on the telly ain't always correct. i used to own a countach qv and it was a fantastic car to drive imho, and quick even by todays standards i think autocar put it around 180mph and sub 5 to 60(in the mid 1980's). and that noise, i loved it. drive the cars and make your own opinion.

I just bought one too. Drives nicely, but my old GT2 was much much more fun to drive.
This is my first (okay, second) post on this website (I'm usually on Lambo-Power but got a recommendation, thanks SJ), so bear with me.
I haven't driven a 2 but I have driven the 3RS and Turbo S, though both were some time ago.
If you don't get on with 4wd the Gallardo will initially seem a little lead footed compared to the GT2/3, but no more than a Turbo, so I can certainly understand your comments.
Thankfully, Clarkson's comments will have done nothing to hurt Gallardo sales as generally anyone in the market for such a car knows a good deal more than a bloke who took 10 years to pronounce Porsche properly!
Anyway, hullo to all at Petrolheads!
