Hi all - quick question:
Where can I buy silica gel packs from. It hasn't stopped raining /drizzling since I got the Chim and early mornings are particularly bad for fogging up. I have images of these little tea bagss filled with crystals that absorb the moisture but do they come in, say, family pack crisps size??!!!

While on the topic of rain, I must say that S03s are bloody marvellous! OK I haven't tried S02s before but even with a heavy right foot in 1 & 2 gears in the rain (on a quiet leafy road) have not unsettled the car. Just trying to find the limit of the car breaking away...Read a while back that someone driving a Chim did a little pirouette coming out of a roundabout in third...reading that made me glad I have traction control in my previous car...Still, respect is due to these cars and I'll try to be sensible from now on!

Hi there,
yes you can get large silica gel type packs - I got hold of one designed for caravans etc and is the size of a small loaf tin. Got it from a kitchen / hardware type shop.
Also agree with you about the S03s, had to get new tyres when I bought the Chimaera in August and S02s weren't available. Found that you could really boot it around in the rain, without loosing grip but have noticed that they've been worse recently, after about 4000miles use.

Some camping shops sell small bags as boot-drier-outers. If you're after enough to dry out a car you'll need quite a lot though. There's a place that sells the stuff in bulk by mail order. They have a web site, can't remember the URL but I'm sure a quick Google search would turn it up. It's not very expensive (about £1 per lb I seem to remember) but remember you have to keep drying the gel out, which gets to be a bit of a pain after a while.

Hope this helps,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

thanks for that! www.geejaychemicals.co.uk came up on google. As for drying them out, will stick them in the airing cupboard which is always very toasty...!

Don't forget to keep feeding your leather if you're going to use silica gel. Leather doesn't like dry environments, it will start to dessicate.

woolworths also do the 'tea cake' size drier-outerers...and they do them in a variety of 'flavours'.
