1 Gig CF for £22
Discussion
yup, thats an SD card
The CF card is a quid more expensive
Even cheaper though is

it's a 40x card which is fast enough for most uses.

If that's Kingston Standard (orange label) it's not 40x.
The read speed can be about 20x in the right conditions but the write speed is slower and get's nowhere near 40x, you'll need the SLC version (ElitePro, blue label) to get that.
It's still good value but don't expect to get a reformance card.

ok, considering that 1gig CF card is close to half what i paid for my 512Mg CF card only a few months ago i might aswell ask this question:
how big a difference will it make to have a cheaper and slower card in the camera?
will it obvioulsy affect the taking pictures speed, or will it mainly affect the transferring speed?
cheers in advance

Chris...all my cards are slow ones. I know the camera has a bit to do with it, but I just put my oldest card in it and put it on 8.5 frames per second. It took 21 shots before it stopped. Then I did the same for my newest Scandisk Extreme and it did exactly the same...21. So that prooves it makes no difference at shooting time. Perhaps a couple of minutes is important to some people when they're downloading, but I just go and make a cup of tea or something. HTH.

Both! I'm pretty sure that you wont be able to take as many shots as quickly - eg continuous shooting will be effected fairly severely. Once the camera buffer is full it'll slow right down.
Transferring from the camera will take much longer also.
Neither of these things bother me too much as I don't shoot in continuous mode and I don't care how long it takes to transfer!

how long did it take the buffer to clear though. 20D is 6frames for a raw so the quicker that goes from the buffer the better. its noticable using a sandisk ultra 2 compared to a kingstone elite

and based the speed on the maximum possible read speed where the slowest write is less than a quarter of that.
