Help! PC dying?!
Discussion
hi all,
ive got a pc on AMD 2800+ with 1 Gb RAM,standard case PSU and its turned off a few times today. It's totally off, only the light on the keyboard stays on. When i switch it on, it boots as normal.
Does anybody know how i can find out if it turned off due to over-heating, with any programs? (it's missing a case fan). otherwise i'm thinkin bad PSU, in that case, any reccommendations on a reasonably priced PSU?
cheers,
ben

Lots of bios on setup alow you to go to setup options( at startup), normaly temperature of various items is shown.
EG, ON MINE , amd 28 with asrock mb i hit F2 -and go to advanced options.Yours will be slightly different, but worth a try to see if temp too high.
Search AMD and MB site for acceptable temps - AMD (from memory) define temp of CPU by code, hidden under the heatsink ( tells you whereon AMD site)
Hopethis some help

If you have removed a fan it sounds like heat. If you take the sides off the case and stick a big fan (if you have one) next to it - does it do the same thing?
Have you upgraded anything recently?
What spec is the power supply (they will be listed on the side of the psu) and what components do you have in the computer (AMD, Intel? how many drives...etc)?
Check in the bios for cpu temperature but if its happening randomly you can use this to check them once the CPU has load.
