I know I have seen a similar post on here before about this subject, but the 'search forums' function isn't working - hence the post!!

Not sure what model of Becker head unit the Cayman has, but has anyone hooked up an iPod to one, or any ideas about contacts who may be able to help?? If you have done it, would be interested to hear where you housed the iPod, e.g. in a cradle, hidden away etc....

Cheers.

If you have BOSE then I would think it is unlikely that you will be able to connect an iPod the BOSE setup uses MOST Fibre Optic technology which is fairly new in cars and there are very few add ons as yet. AFAIK the Dension kit does not have a Porsche fitment.

Thanks, BOSE is the order of the day - I feared as much.

Have you read anything about whether this is on Porsche's radar?

Not on the Porsche radar in europe I don't think!

US guys rumored to be getting something but we shall see. I am not sure how long it will take the aftermarket guys to produce something though.

I use the Denison FM modulator in mine, hard wired to the FM port.

works fine, quality is as good as a very good FM stereo signal, and I bought a tom tom screen mount and modded it to use with the denison kit, works a treat.

I too have been scouring for such a device, but have not found any yet. Apparently the problem is with the complexity of the bus to/from the head unit.

DucatiGary, how does the hardwired denison work? I've tried a iTrip but with very poor results.

yeah the Itrip is not wired to the unit so the quality is poor, the denison is hard wired to the antenna jack in the back, acting as a pass through for the radio so you can still recieve radio (like id want to with 60 gig of mp3's) im not sure about the cayman but on the 911 there is more than enough room behind the head unit to put the fm modulator box that comes with the denison ice link, although this may be down to the amp being under the bonnet and might not be the case for people who dont have the uprated sound pack.

once you hook it up set it to a pre determind station (mines on 88.0) chuck Ipod into the holder and tune radio to the frequency, doesent matter if there is anything being broadcast on that frequency as the source for the Ipod is hard wired so will over ride the FM signal and you wont hear it (unless you unplug the ipod)

I spent months trying to work out how to get it done, researched lots of different products, the harman kardon drive and play was the most functional but you had to drill holes to mount it propperly, thats why I went for the denison in the end cos I didnt want to drill anything.

Good news - Apparently Dension will be selling the new 500 IPOD connector to the MOST Bus around June. See www.dension.com for details.

The Dension ICE>Link FM is the best solution currently available. We fit dozens of them on Porkas etc and they always work really well. The new Optical ICE>Links due out later this year will be a better solution, but they won't be cheap!

Chris,
How does the Dension compare to the Blaupunkt ipod connection (uses CDC connection). It seems good but only shows the track numbers on the stereo display. Is there more funtionality with any products?
