Been yearning and browsing Cerbs for over a year now and pretty set on an early(ish) 4.5 if I can find one. I also have the family financial directors approval, at last
. One aspect I can't seem to find out about is 'Model Years', more specifically 98MY, the later LW's models are outside my scope
. I've seen/heard mention to 98MY as a key point for changes. Question is, what exactly happened/changed then
and when in 98
.
btw who picked up that Marsala 4.5 from west London last sunday, beat me to it
. Anyone here
it seemed to tick a lot of my boxes, rebuilt with lots of Tuscan racer internals, remote Ohlins set up by Maritn Short, two owners less than 40K, heated garage etc................

I am no techie and TVR expert, but i remember hearing it said on these hallowed pages that it was mid way through 1998 that TVR started to fit the upgraded clutches to all Cerberas. If you have a late 98 model (like i have) then your clutch and everything that goes with it) should be OK.
2001 was the year much of the changes were introduced for the 4.5 with the indroduction of the LW designation.
As for the 98 year... from what I recall of the Al Melling talk, (will check notes later) the crank casting metal was changed to a slightly higher spec material, also the location of the dip-stick moved to the front.
Brakes, Suspension, lights, wheels, internal roll cage, roofline, engine tray, Windscreen Sides, Bonnet-door-boot material etc. were all 2001 changes.
I'm not sure when the clutch design changed to the tuscan type either 98 or 2001 (probably shot down in flames for this) earlier cars require modification to later style.
Edited to add: Also later cars do not have Carbon Air Boxes like the earlier models.
