996 gt2 vs 997 tt

Depends on how you define faster.
On greasy or wet roads (or even dry I would imagine) point to point accross country the 997TT would be faster, in the hands of similar standard drivers.
On the track I would imagine its very very close, maybe look to their respective Nurburgring times as an indicator. The GT2 is a more focused track car, somewhat compromised as a road car, while the TT is more a road car that can be tracked, so its difficult to compare.

Have you seen this from another thread about the 997TT, would you GT2 owners (lucky devils) think your's could beat this ?

Over a UK A or B road? Absolutely nothing in it if we are driving within "tw@t" limits. If we are going to disregard the "tw@t" limits,i.e. put your licence at serious risk, then the GT2 simply wouldnt stay with the new car. It is a vastly superior motor, the new VGT's give the 7 an immediate advantage and the 4wd system has been refined again to make it probably the best system available on a roadcar. The GT2 (after it was sorted) is a thrills and spills machine, the TT an out and out voracious ground coverer. I cannae wait to get my mits on mine when it arrives before the end of the yr (allegedly and fingers crossed). Besides, Ive already got something to go eyeball to eyeball with a GT2 in the thrills n spills dept.

Yeah - but I think the point is that YOU might be quicker in the 997TT than you would be in the GT2 - irrespective of which car you might have the most "fun" in.

I agree - I would too - BUT the original poster asked which would be faster and I believe that in 99% of real life circumsatnces the 997TT would be the faster weapon.
I guess we could all come up with a number of scenarios where one would be quicker than the other ; dry circuit versus wet circuit ; dry runway or greasy backroad. Ultimatley it is horses for courses - but on a racetrack (dry) the GT2 will take some beating - on a wet or greasy track, and in 99% of all road conditions the 997TT will be the faster car (given same driver. Caveat on "fun" still applies.

Yeah...BUT no doubt DMS et al will be launching new pakages to exploit the massive untapped potential of the Variable Nozzle Geometry Turbos giving similar, if not better outputs....and the TT with it's new 4 wheel drive package is probably better placed to put it all on the ground.
