Now I REALLY love TVRs
Discussion
I knew that there was a shed load of work involved with building these cars, but the visit I made to the factory last Friday really highlighted just how much work and how labour intensive the whole process is.
It was a long trek from just outside Bournemouth to Blackpool, but really well worth it. Anybody that gets the chance to visit do so (don't know if it's only available to people buying new).
It was amazing to think that my car started life at the factory as a bunch of metal tubes and some floppy fibreglass sheets. Seeing the effort involved makes you realise that all the cars really will be individual, with some having more quirks than other. And I guess that it goes some way towards forgiveness for any niggles I might experience (hopefully very few, if not none!).
I fell in love with the cars when I first went into the dealership - or at least I thought I did. Because seeing them at the factory made me even more lustful.
Now I just have an interminable 2 - 3 weeks more to wait......

Our visit to the factory in May 2002 was the key thing that changed my partner's mind on buying a Tiv! Seeing the beauty of so many cars in colours from the subtle to the outrageous, coupled with the passion of so many people who work there (Gerbil, Gaffer's dad, Heath et al), convinced her of my argument that we should enjoy life now and buy a Tamora.
Living only 10 miles or so from the factory, we were able to visit the factory a number of times to see our baby being built - we were also able to sign our names on the bodywork under the carpet!

Lucky - so close to the factory!
Actually, I have no frame of reference as to what defines busy for TVR in terms of numbers of cars, but there was loads of activity and many cars in various stages being worked on.
Have to say that my wife was smitten too I think. AND.....loved the Sagaris, and didn't complain when I suggested maybe chopping in the Tam in a couple of years when they have a targa or convertible Sagaris..
BTW Mine was the only Tamora I could see in any stage of build, so the rarity continues!
