In EVO magazines tests around Bedford autodrome the Gallardo is quicker than the Murcielago by some margin.

That's the only back to back test I've seen, bear in mind the Murcielago is a lot heavier.

Marginal differences between the two according to German 'sport auto' magazine: Gallardo slighly quicker at Hockenheim (1-11.8 min vs. 1-12.0 min), Murci slighly quicker at Nuerburgring (7.50 vs. 7.52min.). Gallardo SE was slower due to shorter gear ratio (1-12.2 min.).

It still is a very tiny difference, looking at the pricetag

Bertie's right. The G is quicker around the West circuit. It would probably be quicker round most tracks but that's not the point of the Murci.

Thing about the Murci is it needs room to stretch it's legs. But when it does, lordy do they move!

The Gallardo just picks up and goes. Bit like a fast bike. But with the Murci (and Diablo's for that matter) you can feel all hell PREPARING to let loose. There's a moment where you can feel the weight of the car holding the muscle back and then warp power clicks in. Old school horsepower!

It's not about lap times, it's about feeling, and on that count the Murci is every bit as good value as the Gallardo. Horses for courses.
