My MOT is due in a couple of weeks on my 4.2 cerb and i am lacking the necessary cats. Does anyone know of any Stevie Wonder MOT places in the Leeds/Harrogate area or alternatively is there an extremely nice person who would be prepared to lend me some for the MOT. Also on the subject of MOT's what can be done about the handbrake? Can they be made effective enough to pass or is this another nudge nudge wink wink area. Many thanks

I am no help on the cats, sorry, but on the hand brake front... Mine was totally useless until I fitted new rear disks. The handbrake has a separate set of pads in a drum brake configuration acting on the inside of the rear disk casting. This is not sealed so when I removed my old disks, the braking surface for the handbrake was a real mess. I cleaned up the pad surface and gave the whole assembly a good lubrication before putting the new disks on. It now works enough to stop the car on a reasonable hill. I guess that a good clean up on your existing rear disks would help as the surface on which my pads were acting was essentially a mixture of rust and mud!

Be careful, as I understand that all MOT stations are now 'on-line' directly to the DVLA? so it is probably not possible to use some of the 'workarounds' we have all heard about in the past. There were some 4.2 and 4.5 Cats advertised on e-Bay a week or so ago (not sure how much) but may be worth a look!!

I have a set of 4.5 ones, but think they are the wrong length for your 4.2. I am sure that someone will come to your rescue. Even with the Cats in the Cerb will struggle to pass the emissions test.

If your willing to pay postage, then I've got a couple sat in the garage, passed MOT last September.

Hi Steve, I may have a pair of cats going spare shortly as my cerbs in for some work at the mo, including a decat. However not too sure when I'll get it back.
I also know of a very sympathetic MOT place close to me in the Castleford/wakefield area, I've been there today & suprise suprise passed yet another MOT.
Let me know if you need further info'

cheers mark, are the cats still on your car because if they are i guess it would be a bit of hastle to take them off, put them on mine then swap them back onto yours. are you the guy i bumped into at the petrol station on skipton road in harrogate a couple of months ago? cheers for the offer anyway.
