My GT3 RS was a press car, was used in Top Gear. Yeah I know, but I got it for a good price...

ANYWAY

It was prepped before sale by Porsche GB reading, and I starting to wonder if it's been set up ultra low. It pretty much kisses the ground over any inclines.

Is this just the way they are? Should I take it back to OPC and get them to highten it as much as possible or will this affect handling?

Also if you have a GT3RS could you tell me how high your front black plastic lip is from the ground, would be interesting to compare.

I don't really want to start fiddling with it, so maybe they really are just that low!

They are very low. If you want it setup better than factory then JZM can do it or Parr if they are closer.

My RS front splitter is VERY low (you can't even remotely) squeez your foot between the splitter and the ground, but it never scrapes the ground except on driveways or NCPs. DanH is dead right - get the car setup at Parr etc.
My RS was a nightmare when I initally got it, it was all over the place and that was AFTER Porsche had supposedly set the car up to standard settings. It was bloody horrible to drive. The car came back from Parr and they told me the car had been jacked up to stock ride height by Porsche but that was it - the wheels were pointing in different directions, camber, toe-in etc was totally F**KED.
When I drove it back from Parr - it was the revelation I always wanted it to be. Awesome.

P.S. I honestly wouldn't give a F**K about this mate..... the car's under warranty and you've said you got a nice deal.

Some of their setups require rolling the wheel arches, so ensure you are happy with this before embarking on it. JZM don't roll them. I'm not qualified to comment whether it is necessary, but I am happy with my JZM setup.

DanH could you give me an idea of what costs were involved with your JZM setup, and how long it took?

I have spoken to Parr so would like to compare the two.

Have a chat with JZ as it is all tailored to your needs. I can't really quote on their behalf! It is half a days work though I think to give you a ballpark (they do it twice to allow the suspension to settle in).

I'm sure you'll get a great setup with either.

Parr had an openday recently and i, we, left there thinking that they are pretty much the porsche Daddies. There were loads of customers GTs in there of all varieties.......... some of the pricing of their race prep work was a bit scary though

I have had cars set-up by both Parr and JZM and would recommend the JZM route. In my experiane they take better care of your car and the setup is better suited to a mix of road and track driving.

Booked in with JZM for a fast road setup, very friendly and a keen price.

I will post the results once done.

Thanks for all your help.

When my RS was in at Parr , I had my wheel arches rolled to go along with their Stage 1 setup.
Seeing as the car is used a LOT on the road, the wheel arch rolling thing is a pretty good idea as mine would probably have been hammered by now had I not got it done.

I haven't had mine rolled either and JZM also took care of my suspension. Had the full track set up done but stopped short of changing the suspension top mounts to get the extra camber...

Just to add -

If your suspension has not been adjusted by anyone previously and your car has been out in the wet, there is a good chance they will need to strip the shocks down and sandblast the threads on the adjustable platforms because they have a habit of welding themselves to the shocks. Mine needed all four done (one was apparently a PITA) and as such cost me another hundred odd quid on top of the setup price.

I think they widen the track with spacers which would explain why it is required. RSs already ship with slightly rolled arches compared to standard GT3s I believe.

I've often wondered why some people require the arches rolled... I assumed it was mainly MKI's that needed them doing.. Ive just put a new set of BBS LMs with Corsa Track tyres on my MKII - there is no problems on the road but I'll see on the 1st and/or 8th April as to whether I have any problems on track... I hope not!

Just had JZM on the phone. My ride height was at it's lowest setting. About 6mm lower than when it left the Factory. JZM say it's just settled that way.

Because I rarely ever go on track, have moved the height back to how it would leave Porsche when new.

Have also gone for a fast road setup, with the camber and corner weights etc.

They are still working on the car now, so due to get it back sometime tomorrow afternoon.

There was a white/blue RS there Reg **03 BAD

Anyone here?
