Will shotblasting damage my bushes?

Hello everyone

Does anyone know whether shotblasting my suspension (wishbones etc) will damage the suspension bushes?

There is some surface rust buildup on the wishbones and I have access to some shotblasting equipment. I'm sure I can ask them not to go too near the bushes but will the media bounce off or just rip the bushes to shreds?

Anyone got any ideas?

Change the bushes over to some nice poly ones while the bits are off. Seems false economy not to.

A word of advise, I've blasted suspension wishbones before and finished them with Hammerite only for them to chip very quickly, the solution was to use etch primer before smooth Hammerite and they still look like new. Not a speck of rust 10 yrs on. I hasten to add this wasn't on the Cerb' but the principal is exactly the same.

They will be painted in some kind of epoxy primer.

Its the green stuff they paint aircraft with. Had some of my MGA parts painted like this and they are still as good as new.

POR15 on ours. Fronts look like new after every day use more than 12 months ago.
