Bought my Tuscan from them last year with a one year warranty. Had a few things go tit's up (as they do) Speedo went haywire 180 mph in a 30 limit! 
Needed to go back for repair, no problems they had the car for a week, I had a courtesy car.
All fixed under warranty. Also had a few other odds and ends fixed under warranty during the year nothing major I'm glad to say. I did have a problem this the throttle box. it got very sticky after about 4-5 months this had to come out and be stripped down this was considered to be a wear and tear refurb and wasn't covered by warranty. ha ho!
All in all I was pleased with the work that was carried out under warranty no fuss and no wool pulling over eyes.
Admittedly there prices do look high, The car I have vetted and driven over the last couple of years have been first class IMHO.
I believe they also do and unprepared cost on certain cars that allows you to choose whether you want them to bring it up to forecourt condition or allow you to carry out your own refurb.
My old Chim is back up there at the moment in the showroom at the SAME price it was sold for this time last year. Shocked? So was I until I realised it had had a front end and rear wing re-spray, not cheap but it now look the dogs.
So you pays your money you takes your choice.

Bought my Cerby from them almost a year ago today. Been back 4 times throughout the year - warranty covered it every time. By my calculations it would have cost me a couple of grand (maybe more) at least without it.
Although I probably still haven't got all my money back than if I had bought privately the peace of mind their warranty gave was well worth it. Thankfully I haven't needed any major work but if it came to the worst I am sure they would have covered it.
Definitely recommend them.

I too preferred to buy from Fernies, to get the peace of mind i wanted with my first Tiv. Had the car a couple of months now, 2,000 miles done, and no probs. I haven't had to call upon their warranty yet, but then again i'm happy to pay life insurance but haven't called on that either!
If you want peace of mind, buy the best, and with a warranty.

I'd agree with all the positive feedback on Fernies.
I've known of them for the last 10 years or so, but only bought my first TVR last year - funnily enough this was Big Al's Chimaera 4L R**EAN. (Big Al - if you're reading, what a great car sir - you certainly kept her in tip-top condition)
I recently moved on to a Cerb 4.5 last month, again from Fernies. Yes, I've paid considerably more than I would have done privately, but the pre-delivery work and the warranty, IMHO, are worth their weight in pound notes.
I'm a real fussy b*gger when it comes to my P&J and I've already been back twice for a few really minor items to be put right. And Fernies have been great - no quibble, no problem, just get the job done.
It's about peace of mind as much as anything - hopefully I won't need the warranty for any major work, but it's nice to know it's there if do!

Glad you approve of my replacement chariot - I think it's a similar sort of colour to your bute of a Tuscan - isn't that Rosso Pearl as well? (Think I saw you last summer on the A24, through Findon).

Warranties are a waste of time unless you own a Speed 6. Save the moeny for the rainy day - over time you will be far ahead by not having paid for on. (IMHO of course! not that it is worth dick) - Always buy private - test the car properly, go over it with afine tooth combe and save thousands, let someone else pay the extra just for buying in car and sticking a 10 - 15 % mark up on it the following morning!

Not always. The clutch on our 4.2 Cerb was covered by the warranty we got with it from Fernhurst. And there were a few other bits and pieces sorted under warranty too. TVRs are like that - bits do fall off/break/expire at regular intervals. If you want to cut your costs, then by all means buy privately and forgo the warranty. But it doesn't hurt to have a warranty. I'm certainly glad we had one on the Cerb.
That said, though, I did buy the Griff privately. And spent all the time worrying whether something big and really expensive would break one day. If I'd bought a warranty, it would've been worth it for the peace of mind.

Bought mine 16 Months ago from Fernies. Paid top dollar, but in return, got an immaculately prepared car, that fundamentally, has been utterly reliable - touch wood. Mine is a daily drive, incidentally

Bought my Cerb from Fernies. Went back with a MIL light flash and when I arrived it also started to p*ss out water! They gave me a car to get back down to Southampton, fixed the water issue and MIL light same day, and didn't charge me a thing. And I only have the limited 3 month warranty which covers engine, gear box, and axle. Top blokes. I also negotiated down the price and got a free 6k mile service thrown in. Other benefits if you buy from them are free MOTs, £40 flat rate labour charge for any work and a free courtesy car.
When I was looking at buying the car, I went out for a test drive and they looked after my family providing coffee for the wife, water for my dog, and shutting up the workshop so that my 2 year old could run about in safety. Everybody was pleasant and frendly. Couldn't recommend them enough.
It's not just the warranty you should be looking for but the overall package. Trouble with buying private is that you just never know.

I have been using Fernies for a couple of years since I bought the Cerb from them. The warranty does what it says on the tin, but the "extras" that I have had from them have been phenomenal.
They have always made time for me, even when I just pop in for a yack. When I lost my water cap the night before CREAM last year, I ended up ringing them just as they were locking up the showroom. No problem they said, we'll just take a cap off the one in the showroom and leave it out for you. Freeby when I truly most needed it.
While I doubt I would use them for major tweeking work, I can't imagine using anyone else for the regular stuff(unless the wife really gets stuck in to the kid's inheritance!).
