They sure are, if you enjoy cooking them on a regular basis...

Magnecor are the only way to go

Personally i've never tried anything other than the standard Lucas ones and they've always been fine(about £30).
Another good quote from my favourite read at the mo."the standard Lucas suppression sparkplug leads are of excellent quality and can be used with confidence, knowing that they will perform as required"
If i did want something better, say for heavy track or competition use, then i'd go for the Moroso ones that DavidH has posted the link to.Moroso make seriously good quality kit for the RV8 by all accounts, and i've heard of a few that have been unhappy with the Magnecore ones.

The best bit about those leads on Ebay is they're from our very own V8racing on PH .. so well worth a look if you're wanting leads

Do those leads still require the plug extension things? If not where's the best place to get a set? ACT?

Yes, you will need the plug extenders and ACT are the best and the cheapsest place to get them and they give next day delivery, well recommended.

Is there any way to test the plug extender things? I'm guessing that a multimeter is useless and that they'll only break down with 20kv+ across them?

I have a set of these leads fitted to my chim and also changed the coil to a flame-thrower type and, whilst there is no doubt that the spark is getting through fine, my tachometer is bouncing all over the place!

Thing is....dont know if its down to the leads of the coil as it wasn't happening before hand. Doesn't bother me too much but thought it was worth pointing out.

I doubt very much it would be the leads as these have one of the best at emi suppression, a lot of high energy coils can cause this sort of problem?

Could be caused by a lack of resistance on the HT side leading to an inductive kick on the LT side. If you are using non-resistive plugs, and non-resistive extenders, and non-resistive leads, it would be worth trying resistive equivalents of at least one of those components.

hmm, I thought the plug extenders were just there for RFI suppression? If you use shielded leads I was lead to believe that you can do away with these. I took mine off and the car seems to be running fine.

I ordered some from Formula Power. They were £55 for the set which was not silly money like the magnecors but if anything they are better quality. 10mm with triple core, come in red or blue. Thought it was a good halfway house between the £20 lucas and the £120 magnecors. Will post the contact details when I get back if anyone is interested?

The main reason seems to be just to keep the leads away from the exhaust so they don't cook. You can get resistive and non-resistive versions, and both seem to work fine. Similarly you can get resistive and non-resistive leads and both seem to work fine. The standard plugs are non-resistive, although resistive ones are available. In principle the ignition system may work fine with non-resistive components throughout, but adding resistance will reduce the inductive kick on the LT side of the coil, which might alleviate your problems.
