More bass needed any ideas?
Discussion
I need more bass in my Lotus Esprit, but don't have much room to put a sub-woofer. I already have a Panasonic active-sub in the passenger footwell, but I'm not too impressed with the level of bass.
I already have a good head unit with a seperate amp and good speakers in behind the seats, in the doors and in the dash.
Someone mentioned a long thing sony sub, designed for home use. Anyone have any ideas?

Never seen and install in an Esprit but have heard one in a 355 that must be similarly short of space.
www.prestige-audio.co.uk in the south and www.sqplus.com in the north are two places I have dealt with before that I am sure could help/advise.

Erm, it's not something as simple as the phase being reversed on the sub is it?
That would sound like there wasn't much bass...
For starters,I already have a twin sport's exhaust, and often do drive about without the music on just to listen to it growl and pop.
Now, the reason I want more bass is so that the music sounds good when I have the roof out and am travelling at 100 plus mph. Siting in a car park doesn't do it for me.
Some of us like good sounds for a personal pleasure, not for the general public.
So.......any sensible ideas???

shadowninja said: two options...
1) fit a sub in the boot (never seen an esprit boot so i might be talking utter bollocks?)
2) buy a sports exhaust and throw away your stereo
The boot of an Esprit is quite a long way from the cockpit, and seperayted by the engine room and a glass panel, so it would have to be a bloody big sub thingy. The second sugestion is much better, except for the exhaust bit

mmm ok i know the feeling... when I'm on the motorway with the roof down the wind noise/drone of the exhaust for a couple of hours can get monotonous so it is nice to have some decent 6x9s on the back wall (Chimaera if you were wondering)
anyway what about in the front where the engine should be?
isnt there enough space for a custom-made sub-box? IIRC there was one elise owner a while ago (sorry forget his website url) who had a custom sub-box at the front...

I know there isn't that much room in an Esprit but they've got a wall full of trophies and have done good things to my cars in the past!
