If we are advertising on autotrader we quite often put the mileage in because you`re dealing with a one off advert and muppets like to compare numbers. On our own website I hope the viewer is a little more educated and so want to ensure they buy for the right reasons not the wrong ones.
Did a post some weeks or months ago listing the number on the speedo on all the cars in the yard and it made interesting reading. I think there was 1 car over 100k mls and the average was probably circa 50-60k (bearing in mind the average age of the cars was probably 10 years).
We are very skilled at what we do and have great depth of product knowledge, most other people in the trade (not all), don`t have that luxury and have to wing it on little or no knowledge so use numbers as a ladybird guide to dealing cars, (and try to sell new or nearly new cars as well to minimise their risk still further). Some even try to borrow rather than own all their stock to totally remove their risk !
I do accept that with a car such as the 997 we have on the site it`s only a year old and so number on the speedo / spec plays a bigger part in determining the purchase as in theory the condition of the cars should be almost identical. Hence we included the number. You will note we haven`t advertised the fact that our GT2 has only done 16,000 miles !

Well I'm convinced...now let me think which "specialist" coloured high mileage, low spec car to buy and shall I pay full price for it or the er....special offer guv web saver price....
