Interesting BiB surveillance
Discussion
Maybe the pro lawmen can explain.
Tooling in the TVR at 0.5 warp westbound on M65 passing Burnley this afternoon. Minor road bridge across M65 has an array (6) of cameras and detectors on portable tripods never the like seen before. Just as I pass under I catch a glimpse of white van parked off the bridge to the side. Being local, curious and feeling bold I depart the M65 and xcountry to the site where I find said array neatly deployed lots of cables disappearing into unmarked white van with smoked rear windows, with sufficient electronics running inside to need a Honda genny and an interesting array of arials on roof. There is also close parked a white unmarked car, all barriered off neatly. There being no-one in the van driver or passenger seats, and by now feeling very curious and even bolder, I give the rear doors of the van a smart smack with the palm of my hand.
This causes a perturbation.
Out steps a large uniformed BiB No 1xxx from South Yorks Police, and this is Lancashire we are in some many miles from the border with the Independent Socialist Republic of SY.
There then followed an amiable and polite enough exchange, summarised as:
Me - What are you chaps doing with all this techie kit and why are you lads off manor and doing it in Lancs.
Them - really sir its none of your business and we aren't going to tell you, but it's not speeding and it is crime detection. may we pls refer you for further information to Lancs Police HQ.
I don't think they were checking tax discs.
Does anyone have a clue what's going down - the total kit package looked V expensive and sophisticated and the BiBs were not your typical plod.
I am waiting for the knock on the door

Wonder why the Police said it was none of your business? If it was just ANPR then surely there would have been no harm in telling you rather than being an officious git
Perhaps they'd just settled down for a mid-afternoon snack and were only on their 5th doughnut when you so rudely interrupted?
Was there any jam/sugar on his face?

Sussed it
Blackburn being visited by Jack Straw and Condi Rice - whole town ring-fenced!! Security thick on the ground (and the roof tops)
Interesting to see the general purpose villain capture rate is over next days.......hopefully a good haul of drug dealers, organised crime, thieves, rogues and assorted vagabonds.
