Sat NAV for Republic of Ireland

Does such a thing exist for the PCM2 ?

How can I get it ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

not much use outside the main cities and major routes. major update to cover the country under way this year.

I think the UK maps give you what there is of Ireland now as a matter of course.

It's been mapped allright, but for some reason excessivly slowly. I've driven in cars with it around Dublin and it is very good, owners saying that all major cities are covered with interjoining roads. Not sure about the real rural stuff. Plus, there is very low demand for it as far as I've been told.

Reminds me of some English friends touring South West Ireland and asked a woman for directions whose response was, wait for it,

"go up the road and you will see a row of houses. take a left at my house and your on the way"

think about it........

I was in Dingle and Kenmare 2 weeks ago, I have the PCMII software.

Well, after Tralee, for all the Dingle Peninsula, the whole place did not exist
according to PCMII, nothing at all, zilch. I was OFF ROAD. All grey. Around Kenmare not great either but some coverage.

The thing is with a 04 car, the PCMII software is a 2002 version, and I think the country has been remaped since 2002 with Navteq.

I have heard however that it is possible to get upgraded discs with Navteq directly ? Has anyone tried ?

Thanks to all for the help, and guidance.

Unfortunately, TOM TOM does not support Ireland either, and seeing as I will be driving around the west of Ireland, I suspect that a decent quantity of maps will be advisable, if not quaint.

Seeing as I am originally from Ireland, and have not driven around the country for a VERY VERY long time, I suspect that getting lost a little will bring me to some interesting locations.

I will be in Dublin on May 3rd-5th, so if any of the Dublin drivers intend to meet up some evening, let me know.

Also, any general pointers on bad speed areas will be appreciated. I know about Portlaoise, having already lost my license there in '93.
