Who's had this done and how much did you have to pay?

If its your fingers that have broken, then warrenty might cover. If the clutch is warn, then expect to pay £1k to replace, no warrety cover. Clutchs are around £600, then you have fitting etc etc..

And if the clutch disintegrates or otherwise fails badly at low mileage?

Fingers totally smashed to bits apparantly.

Warranty boys won't pay for all of it - hence the question.

Nice to know my S6 clutch is the only one ever to break in this way.

Funny thing is the dealer says they've had 40-50 like mine.

Multiply that by the total number of dealers in the country and I think you'll find there is a significant problem.

Anyway, as no one is interested in this I'll go away now.

Have you tried a search on both this and the Speed Six Engine forum?
I am sure I've seen several threads on this subject.

Doesn’t anyone else see the irony that is our S6 clutches? On the one hand we’re told they’re so expensive because they have to be super strong and tough to deal with the power, that’s fair enough – but on the other hand, we’re told that they last only around 20k miles because they can’t be expected to cope with the power!!
If that’s the case, what about the V8 clutches, which seem to last at least twice as long, and they surely have more torque stress!!

Thanks for the replys.

Can't quite understand what I'm paying a warranty company for if they don't cover the cost of a mechanical break in a part that is clearly faulty.

What would they contribute towards an engine rebuild? 10%, 25%?

Chris,
Its the same clutch. I just had the clutch done on my 4.5 LWT Cerb. Warranty coy were excellent. They wanted me to contribute something to the parts and I was happy to accept some wear costs. My contribution to the full job was around £240.

The AA just paid (£475) for mine - AA Parts & Labour .. I paid the rest..

Usual story of broken fingers.

Policy is £58.

Clutch price is £400 with other parts costing nearly £200 (slave, piston etc...)

AP (clutches) should be ashamed of them selves with these breakages..

Well, I never knew that! I thought the 'V8 clutches' and the S6 AP clitches were totally different!
As I, Mr forward thinking incarnate, never renewed my warranty, I will have to cough up the whole amount for my new clutch, when the last of the fingers finally gives up the ghost, silly me!
Does seem very odd they can't be refurbed though, I would assume the rest of the assembly is as new!

Apologies if I've mislead anyone. I was informed they were the same. I would apprecaite if you would be so kind as to identify the diferences.

I'm sure your swift rebutal of my statement will be backed up with the facts.
