Went through Watford yesterday evening and noticed that all the road markings for the Gatsos have been removed - not just worn out but have all been carefully scraped off the road surface.
Anybody know what this is all about?
Have they seen the error of their ways and are going to remove the cameras altogether?
Can they still be used without all the road stripes to verify the speed reading?

Just in case anybody is actually interested I have just had the answer from the camera partnership :

"The sites are not being decommissioned, but there is a very good reason for the markings being removed. Some of the lines across the county were in metric and some were in imperial and we have decided to standardise them. In addition, some were beginning to wear out. New markings will be painted as soon as possible, weather permitting."

Lets hope for rain then

That road between Watford and Rickmansworth is a liability - it must be high on the list of 'most cameras on one stretch of road'. Never mind about looking at what's around you - far too busy staring at my speedometer.

Watford generally has an overabundance of speed cameras. Long may April showers continue!

I noticed that the camera on the downhill section (Scotts Hill?) has been removed! Can't for the life of me think why, it must have generated shed loads of revenue...
