Iridium Visors
Discussion
I have a silver mirrored one. Never been pulled as I would never take the p*ss by riding with one on in the evening etc. If I am likely to be out when it goes dark, I'd always have a clear one in a waist holder. I think if you ride like a cnut, then plod would use this as an excuse to have a word but otherwise I think they ignore it.
Same goes with my race cans and slightly smaller number plate. I have filtered past marked cars like this and they haven't pulled me.

www.thevisorshop.com will get you an OE Shoei one that will not have any de-laminating issues.
Generally, Caracoat Rainbow Iridium visors suffer from this; the only way to clean these is to use water and a lint-free cloth.
I have a genuine Shoei Iridium Gold for my 05 Haydon XR-1000 which has never suffered, I also have a genuine Dark Tint which I find better for early morning/evening low sun situations. The gold just looks better (IMO).
My mate has just bought the Laguna Seca Edwards rep Corsair with a black tint and that looks the danglies!!
Touch wood, I have never been stopped on the account of visor visibility.

Have a black one and have been using it on the commute during the last year and never had a problem with the police even though I passed police cars and a police station on a daily basis. Makes riding into the winter sun *much* safer.

I also use a dark tinted visor and have had no problems, I think the Police are more interested in pulling you for a small plate
My blue irridium visor for a Shoei X Spirit from The Visor Shop has been OK with no scratches in 18 months.
The Arai version from the same supplier delaminated very quickly in an Isle of Man hailstorm however, but then I did wipe it clean with my glove - result - £75 of irridium on my finger.
Clean it only with the Calocoat spray provided and it should be OK, providing you don't rub too hard especially around the edges.

Rode from Swansea to Oxford and back yesterday and having the sun in your eyes is a major PITA.
Also what do you guys do when you get crap on your visor? Only solution seems to be to wipe it with your glove, but it's only a matter of time before the visor gets scratched.

I have a rainbow version from the visorshop for my Suomy.
I use it for my 70 mile round trip commute, but not when it's dark or raining.
Never had any scratching problems, never had any problems with plod (or for my can).
I do always take a clear visor with me just incase though.

I agree; I have a four-year-old Silver Shoei XR-900 (incedently, the best helmet I've ever owned), with a matching silvered visor from TheVisorShop, which is still functioning perfectly 4 years later. When I replace my helmet, I'll definitly go to them again.

So yours has not sratched then?? Maybe a blue iridium one may be on the cards after all...
I've got a blue irridium and a micro plate... Have been seen by
quite a few times but they didn't bother with me. Been using mine for two or three years, but sooner or later I'm sure I'll get busted.
Realistically though the chances of seeing a
on the road these days is pretty small
As long as you know it's illegal you take your chances. I still think they look damn good.

I've had a genuine Shoei blue irridium for about 5 years and it has a tiny scratch near where it clips on from where I walked too close to a wall while carrying it. Apart from that its mint and is great in the low winter sun.
Only ever washed it in luke warm water with baby shampoo at home or a quick going over with those wet n dry visor wipes when I'm out.
I'd definitely buy another when I need one
