does anybody know of a company that does full replacement sets or is the best course of action to use the old ones as templates?

I did mine towards the end of last year. I took the seats out, total PITA, and got the carpet out. I then took it to a local trimmer who made them up for £200, I think.

Fitted them back in and bobs you uncle!

Took a day to get them out, not including 2 days to get the seats out, (Not fitted with stainless bolts) and about 5 hours to refit.

About to do mine.

Seats, yep complete pain in the ass until you get fed up with spinning bolts and grind the bastards off.

Why o why they didn't put a tag on the bolts so they were captive in the runners..... the mind boggles.

A guy quoted me £50 to repair my seat, that included him removing the seat.

He swore he would never touch another TVR again

Hi mate.... see my rebuild at www.theratpac.com/guest/windsor All in the bill came to £300 (£200 for the carpet, £100 for the trimmer), I simply pulled the old ones out, ordered some long pile carpet from woolies (approx 7m for whole car) and overlaid them to cut the new ones. I got a local trimmer to replicate all of the edging and then glued them back in with contact adhesive. No dramas but you will need to remove all of the seats and the centre console. The inside now looks as good as new!!

Also some foam backing? I found that if I didnt put this on the carpet just didnt lay correctly.

Didn't have that problem really, although I did use heat/sound insulation on the footwells next to the engine/gearbox. The carpet from Woolies was really good stuff and had a rubber ribbed backing which laid very well over corners, plus it took really well to the contact adhesive. Forgot to mention, included in the £100 trimmer bill was the velco attachments on the matts in the front plus a hard wearing rubber pad under the pedal area to avoid unnecessary wear in future.

Was the center console hard to remove? I've not tried, but it looks like a lot of the dash comes away with it.

Yes, its fairly simple - the centre console is infact 'T' shaped, and is held in place at either end of the 'T' by two bolts per side, easily spotted if you remove the underpanels and have a look up there. Then there is a single self taping screw in the side of the main console. The small section where the speaker normally goes on the early cars is held in place by a screw under the lip of the black plastic rotational air vent in the passenger footwell, and on the drivers side it is simply compressed into place by the larger centre console section that rests on top of it.

Well 3 days in now.....

Run out of carpet so had to stop.

So far used

1mx1m of Alcantara for the doors central cubby hole and the parcel shelf.
2mx2m of short pile carpet for the drivers right hand side trim, passenger left and right hand side trim and the 2 footwell panels. Same for the 2mx2m of felt backing.

Got another 2mx2m sheet coming.

Currently standing me at about £150 all in to do it and a few blisters.

Going to trim the entire floor in one sheet and buy some decent quality overmats.

Will get some pics up when I'm not at work or working on the car. I have 14 days to finish this, rebuild the airboxes with some funky race trumpets! sort an antiroll bor drop link and cut teh front arches out......

Thought I might refresh the topic as I have been meaning to replace my carpets since I got the bleeding thing. Plus we have just found where the water problem is coming from, I thought I can kick the ducks out of the car and remove the koi carp from the footwell.
So, has anyone to save me time and money have Cerbie carpet templates
or know of a company who has?
Thanks all

I am rght in the middle of doing this job on mine. (Litteraly checking PH while taking a break from sewing edge binding!) Seats took about 20 min to get out (with a grinder - don't even try to undo them - bolts are cheap) Centre console is a couple of hours to remove - the main pain being the handbrake lever.

You are welcome to have my old carpets if you want them for templates - though postage on them is probably prohibitive. Also bear in mind that you (or someone) will have to strip the interior to get the old ones out anyway so it isn't much of a problem to do that and use your own carpets for templates. 7m x 1.2m is about the right quantity of carpet. I used 2m x 4m and have a fair bit left over.

That would be a god send. Let me know when your done.
I can send payment for postage via post or paypal.
Hows it coming along? Any pointers/problems? How easy are the back seat to lift out the way?
Thanks again

Only the squab has to come out of the back seats - just 2 nuts each side under the car - the hardest part is getting enough of the sealant off them to get a spanner on! The back can stay in place.

The trim panel that houses the speaker - the one on the door side of the seat needs to come out too in order to get the side carpet in. That has a hidden wing nut to the cant rail - you have to take the speaker out and grope around directly above the speaker hole. Undo the wing nut and seatbelt bolt and the whole panel will slide forward and out.

Getting the carpet away from the tunnel without wrecking the foam insulation underneth it requires a bit of care but is do-able. Everything else is fairly straightforward.

I will bag up my old carpet and weigh it before you decide if you want it sent. You can get away with just using one side and mirroring it for the other which should help with postage. Also I would cut the tunnel carpets a bit large (apart from the short edge that needs binding, then trim them to fit as you glue them in place.

Again that would be great. I don't need door cards or the rear bit between the back seat due to having full leather. The only bits I need are the drive tunnel sides, floor, the door sill strips that run from the footwells to the rear and the cubby hole bit that is under the radio (If thats not connected to the tunnel)
If you would be happy e-mailing me your contact details I will get in touch at a convenient time.
If anyone else would like me to pass the templates on I would be more than happy to help anyone who needed them.
Thanks again
