It seems that we are getting more & more TVR convoys on a very regular basis. (In fact we are thinking of having reserved spaces at Clacket Lane services!)
The last 2 weekends for example we have been out in groups of about 20 cars, all TVR's.
Im pretty sure I have seen mentioned on PH that this may be frowned upon by the boys in blue.
Does anyone know if this is the case, & if so, what number of cars can travel together without attracting the wrong type of attention?
Just thinking ahead really. If we can get 20+ cars together on a wet January day, just imagine whats going to happen when the sun comes out!!

Cheers in advance

f**k em, aren't there enough laws and rules to prevent a law abiding car enthusiast enjoying himself? unless your breaking a speed limit I doubt they 'll bother about it

Hi Nick,
Convoy in the rain? Magic if I remember!
You order the sunshine and I'll certainly join the next convoy!
See you soon.
Big Al.

Just as an aside, as I've just read the 'original' thread: I used to work for an undertakers, and I don't recall anyone ever advising the Police that we'd be out with the Bod Squad in their manor.
I do recall quite a few amusing incidents where people inadvertantly got stuck in the cortege... you should see the faces of people who realise they've just become first car (i.e. the one immediately behind the hearse!).
Then there's the hearse that got a flat tyre... the hearse that wouldn't start... the 9-car funeral in Darlington tht ended with a stuffed Carlton limo and 5 mourners in Darlington Memorial Hospital... the stolen Nova in Billingham, where the yoofs realised they couldn't get past the cortege parked in a side road, so they abandoned the Nova, which rammed one of the parked limos, and the Director gave chase (complete with top hat) and caught one of the tw@s... the funeral in the country village where the handbrake on one of the mourner's cars released itself during the service, and the car rolled down a hill, missed the last limo by inches and ended up in a field, with three of us giving chase, but to no avail as the doors were locked.... eee, happy days...;-)

You should hear what goes wrong that doesn't involve the cars! (Anyone remember Dave Allen...?)

I posted the original thread after attending the TVRCC AGM at Gaydon. Reason for asking was that there'd been grumblings from the club following Rumble in the Gorge, and pics of the convoy/meet appearing in the club magazine. The club was sensitive to the possibility that any convoy-related incedent might have some legal bearing on the club itself, especially if the convoy had been aranged for/by club members. Also with the evidence in hard-copy in the mag, could Sprint be held up as evidence?

Madness, I know, but if there is law preventing us running convoys I'd rather not fall foul of it. Anyone shed some light on the legality of it all?

I too as at the AGM
I think the message was not dont do it but rather if youre going to do it dont write that you did it!!

Its just a cover your arse thing.

PS if you really want to steer clear I think its 12!

We used to convoy to Sunday morning football matches - now that WAS dangerous as only the "manager" had a map - so was forever pulling over on M'way hard shoulders/slip roads . . .

20 TVRs is probably less dangerous than two cyclists side-by-side on country lanes . . .

If you keep to the rules of the road - then it doesn't matter if you are are 20/200 Minis/ Rollers/ Paganis!

Cheers for the replies, I have seen the earlier thread as well. I know Im not the only person who has concerns about this subject. Dont get me wrong, I have no intention of changing the way we do this, I just dont want to fall foul of some set of rules & regs. made to take the fun out of life.
Until anyone tells me we are doing something wrong I will continue to arrange convoys at every oportunity!!
