I had an uprated cam fitted to my Chim, but have never thought that it was timed to take full advantage of it. It was producing 245bhp (same as with the old worn cam) and 300ftlb's of torque almost all way across the rev range. The power also dropped off at around 4700, The torque was miles up on the old cam.
So i asked Paul at Austec to re time the cam for me, and while it was there, also put one of Tim at Act's y piece decat pipes on it.
Got it back today and stuck it back on the rollers, hopeing for 275bhp. Its shot up to 306bhp! with 320ftlb's. The shape of the torque curve has changed and it no longer has the high torque low down, but the thing pulls like a train all the way up to 5700.
Very pleased, it's running a bit lean up the top end but hopefully a tweak on the fuel pressure reg should sort that in the short term.
The car also sounds less boomy on cruise with the new y piece, but absolutlely howls under throttle, its very very loud now. Also get excellent cackles on the overruns!
Many thanks to Paul
and Tim at ACT.
I will post the graphs up when i've got them digitised.

Well... um, no one knows. It is called the TVR 'Supersport' cam. But TVR deny all knowlage of producing such a cam and said it must have come from Kent cams. Kent cams said it must be from TVR. The supplying dealer who supplied to the person who fitted it could'nt remember what cam he put in the post.
I will ask Paul whether he recognised it.

Mucho impressive result for a cam change and re-time
. Some cars do seem to really benefit from exhaust tweeks, also as you say under throttle they get an angrier bark more than just noise
.
What cam did you go for
, be nice to see a before plot as well as the after, to see the effect on the overall curve.
Out of interest how did the results compare to Pauls
, I know he is waiting on changing his RR set up over to a new system, so it may not be a valid comparason.
Great result

Re the cam type, if its a Kent Cam(KC) then I thought they normally stamp the end with the grind ID i.e. 'TVR453' 'TVR51 ' it can also be just preceeded with KC, mines a straight KC218.
If it was stamped 'TVR Supersports' though
, didn't think there was enough room firstly
, most interesting
.
I'm sure that Rob from V8D will have a better idea than most on the subject having physicaly handled probably every grnd there is out there. Hopefully he will be along later.........

Charlie, Probably a TVR435 which is similar on a Kent H214, i think kent made all the TVR RV8 cams
The power curve will tell us quite alot.
Glad it worked out for you.
I guess it sounds better to
