DAAP & iTunes
Discussion
Well, my nerdy side got the better of me this evening so I installed mt-daap onto my main linux server here, copied a few mp3s to it, and now have it streaming to my machine. Pretty neat so far, and apparently I can hook an Airport Express into it all and get it to play through normal speakers, although the Roku product sounds a bit better - because it has a remote control.
Has anyone used Roku?
Also, does anyone know of a Linux CD Ripper? It'd make getting mp3s onto the box that much easier in the long run.

yeah, tried that and it worked, but I'm really looking for a command line based one. and there dont seem to be many around.
Right got most of my network running.
mt-daap on a linux server with my mp3 collection.
Roku Soundbridge arrived today - awesome piece of kit. It runs wifi or 100base.
it took 3 set up questions before it started playing mp3s from the daap server. absolutely stunning. never seen a bit of kit so happy to set itself up and getting to work. and that includes setting itself up on the wifi network (i dont run WEP which made it easy for it). the wifi aeriel is superb. its not in a brilliant place, and its still getting a decent signal.
still screwing around trying to get linux to rip cds though.
it will stream mp3s from your pc to your main stereo as well, but I havent set it up that way. well worth the £140 it cost.
