Slightly off wedge topic, but needed a rant.
My daily car is a clio dci. Brilliant for teaching learners and very few problems. 4 years ago I bought one from local main dealers, against advice from a few people becuase the after sales was crap. Anyway, I learned my lesson the hard way and found this out to be true. Last year I bought another new dci, but from a dealers not local to me, 50 miles away.
All was fine untill Wednesday this week when the alternator packed up. Renault recovery would only take it to nearest main dealer, OH F***, I thought, monkeys working on my car again. To my surprise, they fixed it within 2 days and I picked it up just as the garage was closing at 5 yesterday.
"All done and road tested, new alternator" I was told. The lying b******s. I drove 1/2 mile before breaking down (in pouring rain).
Flipped the bonnet to find they monkey mechanics had broken, not 1, but 2 fuel pipes that pass by the alternator. No way had this car been driven, diesel was pouring out. Good job my son decided to wait and follow me home. Trip to Halfords, jubilee clips, tape and a screwdriver gave a temp fix.
Do I take it back for them to fix again this morning!! I think not. But I will go back to tell them what I think!!
Wife says it was lucky they were shut yesterday

Go straight to HQ, I managed to get compensation for a problem occuring from bad service including payment for my time.
The guy I spoke to was very keen to point out that he had been driving renaults for 15+years without problems - Not sure where you buy the ones that dont breakdown!

Last week I picked up the boss's wife's Pajero (1999 model) from the Mitsubishi dealers and drove it to their house. Now the boss is a suspicious type so he popped the bonnet... to find all the leads hanging off the alternator. No charge warning lamp, but then that was no surprise as one of the things they were supposed to fix was the dash electrics, only I didn't know that so didn't realise anything was wrong. They's also broken several plastics and forgotten to put several screws back in.
He got straight on the phone and the air was colourful: they brought him a spare truck round and took his away to fix properly.
People wonder why I do all my own car repairs...

Renault Main Dealers not my favourite people either - My first ever pride and joy (Mk 1 Clio 16v, low miles, polished turbine alloys etc) went in for 60k service only to fail its MOT 3 weeks later on split flexi-hose for break lines - MOT station refused to let me drive the car home!
Anyone want to buy a Laguna then
I have been shocked by the bad service and profuse lying that comes from our local main dealer. I thought we were just unlucky with the dealer we chose but unless you all live in my 'hood I guess it's company policy
All in my own opinion of course
The last time the flipping thing broke down I made a point of using the wedge as the rescue vehicle
