Opened the bonnet today to check oil / water etc and noticed that one of the bonnet hinges has come semi-free from the fibre glass. Whilst I have managed to fix this so that the bonnet does not lift into outer orbit I would like a better permanet solution.
Has anyone fitted a continuous bar through the fibre glass into the hinge plates on the bodywork ? This would seem like agood solution as long as this was bushed adequately through the fibreglass section. Any tips or ideas welcome.

And onother thing - bright sunshine in Gloucestershire this afternoon, just had to go out for a blast and it was orgasmic, roof off. dry roads, warm tyres.

The expensive fix is to take it to a TVR dealer. They will cut off the whole hinge assembly and fit a new one.
The cheap fix, (i.e. what I did!) is to get some fibre glass matting from Halfords and build up the fibreglass around the hinge post, (remove the bonnet first). I did this and a year later, the bonnet was still rock solid.

The bar solution you mentioned may work, but you would still have to strengthen the area where the post goes into the hinge plate.

One more thing I forgot to add, you can tell how bad the problem is by lifting the front of the bonnet (with is shut) and seeing how much it moves. If its more than a few mill then its likely to get worse and will probably make the whole bonnet flap alarmingly at speed!
