I think it's a great bit of fun. How does it go round corners though. I take it there is some sort of clever linkage to make the tyres lean together. They look like bike tyres to me, so they'd have to lean to produce significant lateral thrust.

Wouldn't want to drop it. Can you imagine trying to pick up one of those on your own! Bet it's good fun in a straight line kind of way.

And for the final lunacy... 4 wheels makes it a convertable car, so you don't have to wear a helmet!

I wonder how it corners...

Oh christ, what are these guys on?

And can I have some please....

The idea of sticking a V8 in a motorbike has been done before. Dunno who was daft enough to make it but it was called the boss hog and had a chevvy corvette V8 in it. ONLY 300 odd hp though. And it cornered like a truck as it had car tyres to begin with.

This is way better engineered from the looks of it though. Like MEME says it looks like it has tilting wheels or else it won't corner. Although knowing the Americans though it's entirely possible they just forgot all about corners when they designed it.

Should be good for a giggle on the Salt Flats in Utah. Wonder who'll be mad enough to try and hand on till 300mph.

Bloody brilliant.
Completely impractical, barking and politically incorrect.
A breath of fresh air (bet they dont put it into production though!)
In recent years we have seen many auto manufacturers suck up to the greens by providing the option of vastly overpriced badge engineered pedal cycles as a supposed accessory.
Hopefully this sees the end of this unpleasent trend, now with a bit of luck we should see AML superbikes, Land Rover moto crossers and Lotus supermotards.
I live in hope.

Would have been better designed with one wheel at the front. Come to think about it, one wheel at the back at the same time. Interesting idea though.

Dodge unveils 300mph motorbike

DETROIT (Reuters) - The Detroit motor show has seen a lot of concept cars over the decades, but a four-wheel

motorcycle powered by a 500-horsepower V-10 engine is a first.

And it may turn out to be more than a concept.

DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler arm on Monday unveiled the Dodge Tomahawk -- essentially the 8.3 litre engine from

a Dodge Viper mated to a motorcycle frame. Chrysler executives said while the chrome-draped Tomahawk was

outlandish, they were seriously considering whether to build a few hundred at a price of at least $250,000

(156,000 pounds) each.

"This is for people who are passionate about engines," said Chrysler Chief Operating Officer Wolfgang

Bernhard, who rode the Tomahawk on stage during a media preview. "A motorcycle is the most beautiful way to

showcase an engine."

The 1,500-pound Tomahawk can reach 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds, and has a theoretical top speed of

300 mph. Each pair of wheels is separated by a few inches and each wheel has an independent suspension.

Bernhard said four wheels were necessary to handle the power from the engine.

Chrysler executives said if the Tomahawk were put into production, it would draw attention to the Dodge brand

in ways no ordinary sports car could. Bernhard said a decision on whether to build the Tomahawk could be made

in several months.
""""

I dare 'em to do it. just to see how they get around the problem of a narrow vehicle like that having four wheels. It has to lean, and with 4 independent arms, that's gotta be a sight like an oversized bmw streetcarver skateboard

I'd imagine there would have to be a linkage in the suspension so that when one wheel goes up the other goes down, without activating the springs/dampers. The linkages visible in the pictures do look pretty complex.
