Had a slight moment in town just now, back slid out a looong way when coming out of a slow corner (all under 30) damp and in shadows so maybe ice and a bit more acceleration than should have on the right foot. 0'c on trip comp.

But not had the 996 go so far out before, the pcm didnt cut in and max opposite lock just stoped my first spin in the 911. Thank godness that I cut my teath in Caterham 7's.

Be careful and safe driving

mind the shadows !!

edited - PCM wouldnt cut in would it doh, - I mean the PSM or is it the PMT or thingy

Sounds fun?..Glad you managed to get the car together in good time.
That PSM is amazing...I still haven't totally worked it out.It doesn't seem to be a traction control at all...only comes in on a gyroscope basis ,when the motion of the car goes beyond that of the steering input.Having said that clearly it has to be affected in your instance by lack of grip.

I deliberately slid mine on sunday with a virgin passenger in the car. Loads of fun. Bit different when you're not expecting it though.

It happended too quick to be fun or scary!

I was surprised that the PSM didnt cut in - or maybe it did but had little/no effect if it was ice or deisel. Didnt feel it cut in though.

On track I ve had the PSM cut in and saved a small off so Im very impressed with it but that was in the dry, maybe ice upsets it a bit? Its not speed dependant is it? ie over 30mph?

PSM works across the entire speed range of the car. The problem you have with ice is if you're going sideways whatever the PSM makes the rear wheels do nothing can help until the rear tyres catch some grip.

Anyone got any other experience of ice and PSM?

not got PSM or traction control on my 996C2 , but I always get some (slight)sliding about at this time of year...usual clue is that the steeering feels even lighter than normal...must admit that correction is with steering and whereas I always remember not to brake , I also instinctively lift right off the accelerator...so far without losing it
