Correct battery for V8S

069 appears to be the correct one as the case does not have lugs at the bottom like the 067 and fits the 165mm wide tray. Anyway took the car for a run to wipe away the winter cobwebs after fully charging the battery (yes it churned a little then fired). Bad news though as when I got the car home turned the ignition off and then tried to re-start and the battery was flat, again. Had it tested and confirmed US so purchased another 067 type, why? The 067 purchased is a 70 AH with a CCA of 630. You can get 069's with that spec but they are much more expensive. The battery stay was missing on the car anyway (I guess since an 067 was fitted). You could I suppose grind of the lugs to make it fit the tray but instead I flattened the accessible long edge of the tray and the battery fitted snug, I used in addition a small bolt fitted through the lug and flattened edge of the tray.
Just need some good weather to get the TVR experience (remember I am a new owner)

If I remember correctly, Steve Heath advises a 670 amp cranking current battery for the V8S (think you're right with the amp/hour capacity).
Remember your whizzing around 8 up and downy bits when you turn the starter - - and if you don't use the car regularly its not getting much charge!
I posted last year regarding the sudden death of a ~3 year old Varta battery - really had me flummoxed for a while as to what the problem was....and for an extra 20 or so quid for a beefy battery versus a lower current one, it seems money well spent.

how big is your wallet ? with batteries the more you pay the better quality - the ultimate is deep cycle tubular sla for cars - anything from hawker or oddesy is on the right track - i've used exide maxima blue tops for years - around £150 but huge cranking potential and they dont die if you run them down to 20% - the last one was 6 yrs old on my lotus when i sold it and still had 90% capacity - demon tweeks used to stock them i think

Go to your local farm shop and get a tractor battery. Half the price and if they can crank a Massey Ferguson they can do a TVR
