Right before you all have a go!: I am looking for a new bike [been off the saddle for a while, 10 years]:

Choice is :

1. Hayabusa
2. Blackbird
3. VFR800

I need for cruising round europe but with soooooooooooo much dealer advice I'm confused.....

Plus dodgy hips etc need a stead for two

After 10 years of the saddle, I would have to say the VFR. Great bike good for Sunday blasts and touring.

Thanks for your choices. I am in two minds myself, so have decided to test ride all three to see how they feel. Not entirely sure what the pros and cons are for each other than the obvious ones. As for the colour, hmmmmmmm, probably silver for the VFR; black for the other two

Try the new Triumph Sprint ST 1050 - way more grunt than VFR

I'd say buger all that lot and go for the FJR 1300.

If you're touring around Europe on it, a VFR might just be a bit wheesy.

The guy who runs a riding school on our site has an FJR1300.

He swears by it and wants to buy another one.

Did LE/JOG this time last year, through all the snow and gales in Scotland.

His FJR ran better than my R1200GS and, stuff me, it was bloody quick too!

If your looking for something that's comfortable, reliable, easy to ride yet has the get up and go to take you around Europe check out the BMW twins. They have the big advantage of being relatively light with a low C of G and will have the option of luggage. In the "real world" they are just as fast as other bikes and are cheap to run. The Shaft drive is a real plus on longer tours and the low down torque makes eating miles very easy.

Well, gone and done it!!!!!!!!!!1

Having tried all three machines, I preferred the Busa but opted to buy a VFR until I was back into the flow as they say and more confident

Red, Mint, not a mark & on a 51 plate. Smooth as Galaxy chocolate and no issues with the VTech. Checked in every gear but only a bit sharp in the lower ones

Thanks for your help

Good choice. I had a VFR (the one before the vtec admittedly) and it could do just about anything well, apart from off road stuff of course.

Sometimes wish I still had it, especially during my frequent visits to the petrol station on the '12R.

Enjoy it

Busa is too much for a returning rider and will eat tyres so not good for touring. I wouldn't touch the VFR if it's the VTech, so that leaves the Blackbird which is certainly capable, but a bit dull IMO.

What about a Triumph Sprint?

You're a little late there MrsMiggins, the deed is done and the VFR won.
A good choice I'd say. Enjoy it.
