Just started a new job chauffeuring a guy who has a Cayenne amongst other cars, it's a 2005 Turbo model, 4k on the clock and it needs a litre of oil every 500/700 miles. Porsche Chiswick tell me this is normal, anybody have a similar problem?

Not sure about Cayenne Turbos, although I know there is a disparity of oil usage on 996tts. My car uses 1 litre of 0W40 every 3.5k miles and I know of other 996tt using 1 litre every 1k miles. So there is a wide disparity based around type of usage, oil type and the way the engine was used during the running in period etc..

Edited to say, found this thread over on rennlist:

Looks like a wide variance all apparantly within normal tolerances.

Note to self, check on when I get home.....I had thought, perhaps mistakenly and as advised by the dealer that the self test thing would let me know if I was getting low on oil ?

As usual nervous you get the wrong end of the stick..740i is clearly concerned about the oil consumption on the cayenne..i am saying it is normal and he should not worry about it,you conversely imply that his car is f@cked coz it burns a bit of oil...

sorry matey: you misunderstand. im saying your cars fooked cos of the amount of oil you go through. or possibly cos of the way you drive. or maybe the amount of trouble you get in. who knows.
