I just put a bigger hard disc in my iMac DV Special Edition.
It now has 80 Gb instead of 13 and is a lot quiter.

Is it possible to put the old 13 Gb disc in my 233 MHz Bondi blue iMac?

Yes, it'll be fine. I don't know whether you'll need to reinstall the operating system or not.

You could do what I did. I bought an external case for my old HD and used it as an external backup, extra storage etc. USB but I should have bought a firewire case. Since upgraded to a 160gb for £45 ish

Er maybe, depands on the Blue mac version. If you look at at the IDE connector to the existing disk, does it have more than one port on it?

If not the chances are it won't work, if so You'll still need a new IDE cable for practical purposes , Many of the B/W G3s had a really fussy IDE chip.

Then I'll swap that small 4Gb with the 13 Gb disk out of the DV.
Always nice to have some extra space for mp3's!

It works like a dream, you don't even have to reinstall the OS!

Startup time of the DV with the new 80 Gb disk seems to be much shorter. Very nice!
Now I've got a quiter, faster, six year old iMac that should keep on working for at least another two years or so

So it was worth it, and not as difficult as I expected it to be.

A bit late on this one: you want my OSX discs?

You get all the upgrades for free online . . .

No thanks, not yet.
I'd have to expand the memory of the DV to the max, and don't want to spend any money at this moment.
Also I don't have any OSX software (yet).
