who drove their car in the snow today
Discussion
Didn't risk the Chimaera today, took the Supra to work as I usually do.
Slid around in the car park at about 5mph, could hardly control the thing, being an auto didn't help I don't think.
The car park is on an incline, and I just couldn't get the thing to turn left to get to the multi storey.
If I had attempted it I would have probably taken out a garden and the side of someones car.
I was having a fight even to get it in a straight line, using a bit of handbrake along the way.
I had to crawl down to the bottom of the incline and park in the disabled bay
It was a bit embarrasing as everyone else had come in the other entrance,at the bottom of the car park in their little Euroboxes and managed to park o.k.

Great fun on those back roads!!!
Dammit Danny: I wish I'd known... I just back-heeled a job that would have meant me staying down at me Julie's in Leicester - we could've had a beer (or 2...;-)
You get there often?

Sorry - not TVR related but....
X5 - X5! Went to Norwich today at 6:00am - loads of snow still on the motorway then - great fun! Hit a load of it about 50-60 at one point - talk about snow plough from the wheels! Seemed solid as a rock though.
One advantage of a TVR is that there isn't ABS on it I found out that like most ABS's it got confused by snow at the front and just locked up below about 2mph and slid along. Letting off the breaks a bit seemed to make it all happy again but I nearly run out of car park finding it out!
Other half took the quattro - with the diffs locked you can drive that "almost" like normal, just remembering not to dip the cluth when breaking....
Oh what fun it is to have 4 cars - and people have mocked me before for having two 4x4's....
Didn't dare risk the Noble though.... That's staying in the garage until the temprature gets above 2 degrees again!

The Chimaera took me to work as usual today- in the first (almost) proper snow I've seen in London for at least 2 years- and no problems really.
My parking space, outside the flat, is effectively private land so I had to negotiate 200 yards of very slippy, unsalted tarmac with a lot of parked cars nearby before I got to the road.
The trick is to set off in second gear, at low revs, which makes it easier to catch if the rear end decides to step out and bite a neighbour's car!
She was even more of a star handling the (again untreated) long twisty road through the business park at work.
Ok, it's not a 5ltr but I was quite impressed by the handling.
How are you guys in Scotland or Kent getting on where there's been some serious snow?

Only a heavy frsot in town here, but definately had a few interesting moments getting out of the car park and onto a treated road.. Oh my poor chassis..
However, topless blast up the M1 to Leeds blew the cobwebs away and I arrived in the office with a big grin, (and a minor case of frost bite..)

Interesting... I've always found auto's EASIER in the snow, since you can let them creep, so it's easier to maintain traction.
Moved the S3 to it's new home last night... hmm... wheelspin in fourth at 30mph... I was gripping that steering wheel like an immigrant to a Eurostar...
