Hard drive, in or out for travel.
Discussion
Hi all, I'm moving from Phoenix to Orlando (2,300 miles by car[truck]) and wondered what your thoughts are on packing my computer the best for it's survival. I was thinking that if I removed the hard drive and boxed it serarately surounded by those little 4"x 6" air pillows (not bubble wrap) they use for shipping, the rest of the tower could be wrapped in a heavy duty plastic bag and be fine for the trip.
Any thoughts, ideas or experiences are most welcome.

I'd leave it in TBH, the non-operating shock tolerance of modern HDD's is more than the case could handle... I'd be more worried about the plastic faicia getting cracked or breaking the mounts or something. I'd wedge it on the floor behind one of the front seats or something, thats what I usually do allthough admittedly not on such epic journeys!
I would just put it in the car Derric. I have moved twice and all I did was stick it in a bag with a load of other stuff. I take my laptop with me everytime I go to work and it just gets thrown in my flight bag along with all of the other rubbish in there-it often has to suffer the shock of my landings and I have never had a problem with it
