Tuscan Challenge seeks sponsor
Urgent call for help with racing at Spa
The Dunlop Tuscan Challenge series is urgently seeking a sponsor.
The race series held a successful inaugural race at Oulton this weekend and with several more cars joining the fray, the series looks very promising indeed. TVR racing is also set to make a long-awaited return to Continental Europe with a championship race at Spa on the weekend of 3/4 June 2006. TVR race cars from as far afield as New Zealand are planned to join the Spa round.
However, the very high costs of the circuit hire may prevent the race from proceeding. The series urgently requires a sponsor for this race to enable it to proceed. The sponsor is guaranteed exceptional exposure: its logo will be carried on all race cars. A TV deal is already secured with film crews booked to cover the race and TV coverage will be aired worldwide.
In addition to the TV coverage, the sponsor will be provided with hotel accommodation for two at Spa and unlimited access to the teams and drivers.
This is a tremendous PR opportunity, but a decision is required urgently. If you would like to see your company name on some of the most exciting race cars around, at possibly the best circuit in Europe, please contact series organiser John Reid on 00 44 (0) 7799 117211 or readman.racing@lineone.net.

i wonder what sort of cash is involved?
This comes to mind.
And we can all drop a few coins.

What a fab idea but could it happen quickly enough?
To a new dealer it would be great publicity!
Hello Rod BTW the last time I spoke to you was 2001 I do believe
John Reid could try and set this up with the factory "in principal" then seek out a dealer/pistonheader combination, via this excellent site, I'm sure Petrol Ted would assist,
there must be someone here that is itching to take delivery within the next few weeks or wants to buy a stock car that can then be re-ordered from the factory. Put in the right way, everyone gains and effectively another unit is sold, costs and factory profit is covered, and the dealer gets all the glory at the expense of one car's profit. The factory need to support the move as the dealer can't be expected to cover all the sponsorship costs from his commission, "things is hard out there", and that's where it could all fall down, worth a try though
If I were still a dealer I would have given it serious consideration, there again I managed to run a TVR dealership for 8 years and never made a penny, mainly as a result of high cost customer support and Tuscan racing
so I would understand a dealers reluctance to get involved, mind you if you don't ask you don't get
Nice to hear from you Kirsty. griff2be said:

allo whippersnapper,
hows it man !! Are you lot getting anywhere with this ?? It never ceases to amaze me how disinterested the new TVR owner seems to be in racing, it doesn't make much sense at all. I find myself saying "Come back Peter all is forgiven", we should have realized how committed you were" despite the mood swings
Hells bells,..............next I'll be saying "Ben Samuelson please come back and drive one of our cars FOC "

Very good thanks, Pork boy. Just spent a highly enjoyable day at Brands with BMW, watching Formula BMW, BTCC and Porsche Carrera Cup.
A number of Tuscan alumni there - Mike Jordan did phenomenally well in the Touring Cars (Fiona Leggate not quite so well), Michael Caine, Mark Hales and Pete Osborne were all in the Porsches.
Nigel Mansell, Andy Prilaux and John Surtees were all in the BMW hospitality unit, and everyone was quite surprised when a current English F1 driver popped in for lunch. Perhaps he was after a new engine deal
Anyway, I have no idea what the score is for Spa. I have enough on my plate getting ready for next weekend so am focussed on that. I did write the words for the thing on thge front page asking for sponsors though.
You all ready for the off in the Porsche? Poor old Pete had a new 997 GT3 Cup car delivered with the clutch plates fitted the wrong way round and struggled to change gear (funnily enough!). Not sure whether he had a problem in the race or was just struggling to adjust - I think he has only driven the car 3 times before.

I can tell you from personal experience that driving the Porkers is no walk in the park, tricky buggers at the best of time, a real learning curve
Don't quite know how Pete's car was delivered in such a state, it's got a full sequential box so I guess if the plates are wrongly fitted it would have the same effect as you would with a wrongly fitted 6 speed like ours, I suspect that like me he was having great difficulty in adapting to the LHD/ Right hand change, but a sequential should make it a bit easier

We start next weekend at Oulton, keeping my fingers crossed that the weather stays fair, I really don't need a wet race at this stage as I too have only had three outings in the car and to date have distroyed two clutches
Jan on the other hand is fine, he's used to LHD and can't see what the problem is, he keeps telling me not to think about it and reckons that in the race I'll be fine, we'll see
