Can anyone tell me if de-icer will ruin my window seals? This may sound like a silly question but my car is sometimes outside and if the window freezes to the seals I am worried about tearing them when opening the door.

Any hints?

Also the boot button can become stiff, does de-icer ruin this as well?

Cheers

Rob.

Go to Halfords and get a spray can of their Rubber and Nylon Lubricant. It reconditions the seals and can be used on all the door and boot seals to improve flexibility and prevent surface stickiness. Windows slide across the seals better and it will stop them sticking to the glass even at low temperatures.

I don't know whether de-icer dries out the seals but if you use the lube it won't matter.

How about using a little warm water instead of de-icer? I always use luke warm water to clear iced up windows as it gets a bit of heat into the glass at the same time.
