anyone any experience of one of these? just wondered what they are like running costs useability etc etc are and what people think of them. is reliability a real issue? or is it like most things if used regularly & cared for it will be fine. I was riding an FZ6n untill recently but someone decided to borrow it without my permission and hasn't had the decency to bring it back I was gouing to change to an MT03 but don't think I want the hastle of a third new bike going walkies so plan to spend less and not worry as much cheers guys

The killer is servicing compared to Jap bikes - I was quoted £350 for a 6k service on one of these. I expect using it more will be better for reliability, but since the servicing costs put me off buying one, I can't tell you what they're like.

Think you may also miss the power. Am I right in thinking they are a bit gutless??

not to worried about the power at the moment as I have just had all the NSL taken out of my commute & there are more speed cameras & traffic lights than you can shake a stick at.

The other factor for commuting is the relatively poor steering lock of the monster.

It's a bit "swings and roundabouts" in that there will be loads of extra torque. IMHO torque is better in "real road" situations, particularly if you have lots of speed limits/cameras.

I don't know much about the Monster, but I'm a big fan of twins so I would suggest trying one.

I looked into them as my first bike but ended up thing I would want more power too quickly and briefly got the cbr6 instead. Proved myself right as I only had the cbr for a few months before the triple came along.

Well I went for it in the end its not any where a s quick as the FZ6 and in some ways thats a bonus as I was far to confidant on that bike for my own good. I think if I were starting out riding again & i knew what i kenw now I'd rather of had this for a year & gotten the FZ6 after a little bit experience had been achived

Oh and the steering lock is crap but hey thats only really a problem for the test I don't need to do a U turn anymore

I had a 620ies for over 2 years - 8500 miles - used it to commute through London & between Preston & Manchester daily - it lived in the garden with no cover - rode it through rain, sleet, snow etc.

Never had a minutes trouble with it.

srvicing was dearer than I would have liked.

Fuel tank was small so not much range.

Very comfy - seemed to handle nicely - was fast enough to me but to be fair in the grand scheme of bikes it was slow above 70 mph.

I would have another if I got another bike.
