bonnet pin switch

Does anybody no where the bonnet pin switch is mounted! ive got the typical four flashes and instant siren alert, immediately on arming!
Ive checked the boot switch and that tests ok so it has to be the bonnet! so i cant lock the bloody car!

Cerberas do not have a switch on the Bonnet. This is why they are not Thatchem 1 approved.

I dont't think there is one on the bonnet. I used to leave my bonnet open in the garage when I connected my Accumate via croc clips. Always armed my alarm no problem with the bonnet open.

Being a TVR though, others are bound to have a bonnet switch?? are they??

usually dodgy siren i think,short term fix is to disconnect it(behind rear seats).

mine went this way 'cos of water damage to siren.

Nope, the car could be thatcham 1 approved without the bonnet switch as the main alarm is not mounted under the bonnet.

The reason TVR car alarms are not thatcham approved is that TVR has no approved fitters, and never bothered to get any of its fitters approved. A thatcham one alarm has to be fitted by an approved fitter.

This information comes straight to you from thatcham itself.

You can do what I did which is to take the car to a NICE thatcham approved fitter and ask him to check it and give to a certificate of compliance. Its important to bend over and prepared to hand over cash at this time.

So the letter I have from TVR is bollox?

complete bollox I'm afraid. I have two letters from TVR. One from a secretary who tells me it isn't an approved system, and one from their sales that says it is, and one from a TVR dealer who says it is.

The insurance company I was with were having none of it even after I sent them the favourable letters, because TVR simply didn't appear as having factory fitted alarms to thatcham spec. Unfortunately thatcham circulate this list to insurance companies for obvious reasons.

So I rang thatcham to find out why TVR wasn't on the list they were circulating to the insurance companies and that was their reply.

I remember it was the first time I wanted to kick anything with the logo TVR on it in the goolies and I'm pretty sure it wont be the last.

There was a big thread on this way back, but I can't find it.

You will first need a bonnet on your car to be able to have a bonnet switch
