I have a Tuscan at the moment and toying with the idea of changing, and I'm really interested in your thoughts out there in PHland re: performance, comfort, reliability, gut feelings...

Do I:

a) Keep the Tuscan
b) Change to a Cerb. If I do:

Do I then:

b(i) Go for an early 4.2/4.5 and pocket some change
or
b(ii) Go for a 2000 or later 4.5/4.5LW and spend a little more? (I prefer the updated interior and lights)

I appreciate that you will have allegiances to your respective cars, but I think your responses may give me food for thought.

Thanks in advance for any opinions/replys

agree with joolz.

Should I tell A7USC about the 'Tuscan S' video?

I've had both and to me the Tuscan is a big step ahead from the Cerbera, so I'd stick with the Tuscan.

Joolz has a thing about 6 cylinder engines, but he'll get over it!

OK, I feel my arm being twisted in favour of justifying a 4.2 bag-o-bolts against a nice shiny Tuscan.

Visit www.tvrcc-scotland.co.uk gallery->video

I state my case with "Cerbera eats Tuscans!" and "with Scooby, Chimaera & Tuscan S"

For what it's worth, I was talking to a dealer the other day, who told me that they hald sold around 90 speed 6 engined cars. Of those 90, 50 had gone back to the factory with engine trouble. 4 of the 50 had gone back 4 times!!! That really makes you wonder about the speed 6 unit... on the other side of the coin, he said that the cerb v8s were very solid and reliable, provided they were well looked after (it is a very specialised beast after all).

Having said all that, i had my first drive of a Tuscan last weekend. 4 litre car. Oh my god... It was sublime. Best thing I have ever driven.

loudpedal has raised something that I am worried about, my Tuscan is a Dec 2000 with 9k on the clock.

It feels and drive so much better than other Tuscans that I have driven, but I still cringe @ the thought that it will let go.

My brother only last week had his Tuscan returned with a new engine.

Also, if I were to get an early Cerb, I'd want to replace the seat with the Tuscan ones (if purely for looks) and get the updated lights.

Did they update any other part of the interior? (worried that they might look "out of place" if they did)

Though I do like the sound of the RR conv...

A 7USC, couldnt agree more about the Cerb seats...
The headrest looks a bit crap if u ask me... Tuscan interior is also fantastic... like you're the pilot of a really evil space craft.!!!

IMHO i would keep the Tuscan,I dont dislike the Cerbera at all and if i ever have kids will probable have one.
To me it would be purely down to looks as i have no experience of driving either, and that to me goes to the Tuscan.

A very difficult desicion that i wish i was in your shoes to make.

(Ignorant Chimaera driver here)

Looks and styling aside, how do they compare in terms of straight line performance and handling?

Ditto but the cerb, its personal choice so go for what you prefer. Why not go to a few dealers, try some cerbs, see which you prefer.

True! But matey, when can we expect to see your Cerbie demo up and running (with some tasty Joospeed mods)? You must be a rich man now that somebody nicked your old motor.....
