Don't worry, I don't want to. I just want to avoid it!

Scenario:
My other halfs firm have installed and paid for a broadband connection at home (which is nice) and they have also supplied a laptop which is firmly locked down and also has some fairly nasty Altris monitoring software on it that snapshots the screen every hour and also logs websites and reports back.

So I bung MY laptop on the connection and connect all hunky-dory without the monitoring software.

However.....
Its a BT broadband connection but rather than connecting to a BT branded hub like hg27.btclick.com it connects to CompanyName.btclick.com. So I'm guessing that they can still bring up access logs etc?

I quite fancy being able to access my work PC from my home laptop but without the worry that Wifeys company can log what I am doing (some of the data is confidential). Would a VPN connection between home->work using this hub be tracable?

Ta muchly

They would be able to see the tunnel traffic but not the tunnelled traffic

Malman,

Ta for the reply. So they would see that I had a VPN connection from home IP address to work IP address and they would see the number of blocks tx and rx but they wouldn't be able to actually see what was being tx/rx?

If so, that would work fine. Thanks

yeah, you can't hide the traffic but you are hiding the contents as its encypted - unless of course your wife works for GCHQ/CIA If so then you're toast and expect a visit from the boys in the wee small hours.
