I'm looking at getting a £10k 4.3 chimp. I had a 4.2 Cerbera before, but it cost a fortune to run! Any info on what to look for and what to expect from it compared to the Cerbera. Any comments would be greatly received chaps (and chapets).

There is a Chimaera buyers guide on my website with basic history production numbers and what to look for.

only those that drive them. I bought a 4.3 last year for £10.5k and couldn't be happier. no problems at all. just check chassis outriggers at ends in arches where all road crud collects and traps moisture aswell as wishbones which tend to rust through quite easily. other than that just usual checks.
happy hunting Al.

Chimaera 4.3s offer the best value for performance, in modern TVRs, not far of a 500!!, should be pretty reliable to, there are also loads of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades available these days, for when you get bored with it.

Quite! I easily stayed with a tuned 450 down the straights at Snetterton, and dragged with a 360 spider up to 130. 4.3's fly! Mine will be for sale in a few weeks a bit more than your budget though... £10k is very low...

How long have you had it Steve? How much? Got a pic?

Cheers, dodger.

well perhaps i have got it up for sale at too low a price then and its putting some people off, i thought 10k was about right for this time of year but then looking at whats for sale at the moment it does seem cheap, and it does go bloody well.

trackdemon, is it black? how long have you had it?

Just for info if I was selling mine at the moment I'd be asking around 15,500 (94L, T5, under 20k, FTVRSH and perfect).

The Starmist Green 4.3 For Sale at £10k in the classifieds is certainly no dog. It's beatifully presented. I almost bought it but decided on a Cooper green on instead. Take a look.

Cheers Ian...I do hope you get a sale. I actually bought one from a dealer (non TVR), but it's causing me a bit of nause at the moment and I'm beginning to wonder if i did the right thing....it's just I couldn't risk a private buy with all the other commitments I've got this year...however you's at £10k might have been wiser. All the best.

Dodger,

Its BRG actually, was Pearl white but I had the whole car resprayed when some dippy bint swiped her Clio down the side of the car - luckily only superficial GRP damage. Will probably be asking £12-13 when I sell in Feb / March. 94L, Non-PAS, 24k, 3 owners, VGC
